OECTA has arbitration dates on September 30th and October 3rd which will determine a number of items including the grid increases for this particular contract. As a result, there will be another retroactive payment to cover the grid adjustment from 2022 to the date of the decision. It will also result in the pay grid being updated to reflect the increase moving forward.

FAQ
Q: How many sick days do I have?
A: If you are employed on a 100% full time contract, you have 11 sick days at 100% pay and 120 days of STDLP (short term disability leave plan) which is paid at 90%. If you have unused sick days from the previous year, these can be used to top up your STDLP days to 100%. One unused sick day from the previous year equals 10 days of STDLP top up from 90% to 100%.
Q: What if I have a partial contract?
A: Your sick days are pro-rated to your contract, so if you are employed at 50%, you would have access to 50% of the allotted sick days and STDLP.
Q: How many “specialized appointment/Family illness days” do I have?
A: According to our collective agreement, a member at 100% full time employment has access to 5 specialized days: 2 family illness days, 2 specialized appointment days, and 1 graduation day. If you are on a partial contract, these days are pro-rated to the amount of your contract. LTO’s do not have access to these specialized days.
Specialized days can be accessed through smart find (MyWellingtonStaff link) According to board policy, if you access two of these days, you must complete a form to identify which of the two remaining days you will be accessing. Graduation days can only be used for post secondary graduation of the member or an immediate family member. Click on the link to access the “Short Term Leave of Absence” form:
